Miles to Go..

It’s amazing what a short travel around the World can do to someone – it has an ineffable re-vitalizing effect. I had been to New Zealand recently and I can’t stop worrying about how much India can improve.

We have excellent natural and human resources, yet we do not have good medical facilities, educational services, transport services, etc., These are smaller problems when we understand that at lower levels even basic amenities are a luxury. The business world and other think tanks talk about viable market opportunities at the Bottom of the Pyramid. But how can we do anything until we make people at all levels participate in buying and selling process?

Government, NGO’s, not-for-profit’s, induviduals and many social organizations are trying to help people overcome poverty. Whenever money is involved there is a danger of holes, pits and pockets swallowing it. Many funds don’t reach the right people.

There are few things we can do about this:

  1. Corruption begins at home 🙂 So don’t indulge in illegitimate transactions and don’t accept or give money for such purposes
  2. In every transaction, ensure your money reaches the intended people. This is your right and you need to know how your money is used up
  3. Earn, Save & Share – Someone who loves money is not greedy. It’s only people who can make money, can also share it with others. So do your bit to earn your penny, save it and share it

An overnight change is not possible, but one fine day we’ll see every man in every little gully live with all facilities 🙂

Living within Bounds

There was once a MAN who wished to do many many things
And he needed more rest to do any perfect thing
So the MAN couldn’t do as many things as he wanted to do

This is a dilemma every ambitious person has to deal with and here are my few cents

  1. (assumption) The character, the MAN is like every other human .. designed with work & rest cycles. Not a lazy one per se.. but he is an ambitious one
  2. Of course, he can’t have more than 24 hours a day, coz he’s just like others and hence should learn to survive within the limits, yet precisely know what he needs to do if he wants to do so many things
  3. Doing many things is not as important as doing the right thing and doing it well
  4. No man can do everything all by himself. He should know to share and enjoy inorder to do many many things
  5. He should be focussed.. and do First Things First

will come back on this.. Please share your thoughts, let’s discuss

Beauty, Unguarded

12th Sep, Saturday was my first day in Auckland (although i had been here on transit earlier) . The view of the city as I unveiled the curtain of my drawing room was nothing less than staggering! Talking to myself I moved on to the next room and stepped on to balcony to only be completely awestruck by the beautiful Takapuna beach view. Oh, my!
Seemingly Mighty.. Takapuna Beach, Auckland, New Zealand

Seemingly Mighty.. Takapuna Beach, Auckland, New Zealand

I decided to go to the beach the very day. The place was showing alternating signs of sun and rain.. which made it difficult for me to step out confidently. So I reviewed the maps to reach this place and got myself completely prepared – armed with camera, rain suit, etc., As I reached the waiting room of the hotel, rain poured in heavily as though wanting to send me back. But I just waited..stood there and finally the moment came.

Excited I started moving towards the beach.. and as I neared my heart started pounding heavily.. Gosh.. I was standing close to Takapuna beach and there was no other human other than me in the whole place! I kept walking for few mins.. almost feeling lost in joy, then dipped my hands and feet in the water and stood there.. wow, inexplicable beauty!

Shores of Takapuna

Takapuna uplifted my spirits and I shared my experience and pics with my people at office.. when some one said ‘Did you know it’s now polluted due to oil spills?’ Once again in my life .. the feeling of helplessness crept in!

Trot..Trot..

2009 has been quite fantastic for me in terms of travel. For someone who named her first blog ‘Globe Trotter’ 🙂 barely before stepping out of her homeland boundaries, a decked out travel plan by strange turn of events, is quite an awakening.

Thanks to Travel Gods 🙂

Oh, Funny Life!

Often Life makes you answer your own questions
It’s a funny, unpredictable Life!

Can one describe one self in two lines?
Insane! Yet I asked others to do the same…
It’s an amorphous, limitless Life!

My heart beats and pounds aloud…
My heart stills and pauses in silence
And rings in me “You are a proud Mind”; the Mind is what makes one special
It’s a deep, vivacious life!

Time-Velocity-Space … O, How we drive to mock the self often…
It’s a bold-interesting life!

Be it Sunny Steam or Rainy Stream
Citius- Altius- Fortious we dream
It’s a smooth-silky life!

Walk with people and push for the horizons
It’s a rusty-adventurous life!

Not the Young – Not the Old
Not the Gun – Not the Sword
The double-edged knife is in us,
Let’s be original in our strife!

It’s a beautiful, wonderful Life!
It’s a marvelous, bounteous Life!

.. i wrote this upon request for an article, published in 2007

Turn Off Beyond 20

I get this extreme thought… ‘Twenty years from now, will the air I breathe be full of dust, smoke and the vehicle exhausts?’… shudder! Atleast not so soon 😉
The Space has enough in it to absorb the result of our fast paced, careless life. But.. hey aren’t we going to do something consciously, for the benefit of others?
Here’s one simple stuff – When you are waiting for the signal to turn green, and the timer shows a number beyond 20, turn off your vehicle. This way we can bring down the vehicle emission and save fuel.. the next big thing 🙂

If you have more tips, feel free to pen it here..

Of Road Traffic and Rules

I’m starting to doubt the effectiveness of traffic signals.

Traffic Rules and signals are meant to provide public convenience.
Ironically, roads without these controls are far less congested than the ones that have the signals!

Mom, what can I say of you?

Your love for us is so much, Mom,
that I wonder if this is your only purpose in life..

Your care for us is so much, Mom,
that I fear if I can ever reciprocate it to you or my children..

this is from me To my ma

and to all those unsung Mothers on behalf of all her Children

The Right to Correct

I’m No God to Forgive the mistakes I commit…

Is ‘Living’ the result, the only way out?

The tough days of my life will continue to be those days when I repeat my mistakes. And for those mistakes, I deserve to suffer.
